The team’s active roster remains full.

Desharnais has been sidelined for the last two games with an upper-body injury. His placement on injured reserve is retroactive to his last game appearance on November 26th. While he has been ruled out for tonight’s game against the Mammoth, he will technically be eligible to return for Wednesday’s contest against the Capitals. A timeline for his return has not yet been provided by the Sharks.

The 29-year-old stay-at-home right-handed defenseman is reportedly having his best NHL season in his four-year career. Despite only having two assists in 20 games, he has been San Jose’s second-best shutdown defender behind Mario Ferraro. He has posted a +1 rating and a 2.12 goals against per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, which is the third-best mark on the team among qualified skaters. He also ranks sixth in shots against per 60 (29.17), fourth in expected goals against per 60 (2.45), and second in scoring chances against per 60 (25.17).

Desharnais is a key member of the Sharks’ top penalty kill unit alongside Ferraro. He has primarily played third-pairing minutes at even strength, sheltering rookie Sam Dickinson. This pairing has shown strength in controlling expected goals, with a 56.9 xGF% at 5-on-5. His potential absence for a significant period could be a notable loss, especially as the Sharks have struggled recently, holding a 4-5-0 record in their last nine games.

Regenda’s recall is intended to ensure the Sharks have 12 forwards for tonight’s game against Utah. He could make his Sharks debut if Adam Gaudette, who is questionable due to illness, is unable to play.

Regenda, who will turn 26 next week, was acquired from the Ducks midway through last season in exchange for Justin Bailey. He played out the remainder of that season in the AHL after the trade. Anaheim originally signed him as an undrafted free agent from Slovakia in 2022. He opted to return to San Jose on a two-way deal rather than test unrestricted free agency last summer.

Since being acquired by the Sharks, Regenda has recorded 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points in 55 AHL appearances, including seven points in 19 games this season. He has 19 games of NHL experience, all with Anaheim, but has not played in the top league since March 2024. In his NHL career, he has one goal and two assists with a -4 rating. He is considered a fourth-line option who can provide a physical presence if needed.

The San Jose Sharks have placed defenseman Vincent Desharnais on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury.,In a corresponding move, the team has recalled winger Pavol Regenda from the AHL San Jose Barracuda. The San Jose Sharks announced on Monday that they have placed defenseman Vincent Desharnais on injured reserve and recalled winger Pavol Regenda from…

[1

post-1187","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
