Wyoming Cowboys are heading to Hawai\u2019i to compete for the Paniolo Trophy.,The game will be televised on Spectrum Sports in Hawai\u2019i and streamed on the Mountain West Mobile App outside of Hawai\u2019i.The Wyoming Cowboys are set to face the Hawai\u2019i Rainbow Warriors for the Paniolo Trophy on Saturday evening at the T.C. Ching Athletic Complex. The contest is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. MT.<\/p>\n
Fans in Hawai\u2018i can watch the game on Spectrum Sports, while those outside the state can stream it on the Mountain West mobile app on cell phones only. Due to geoblocking restrictions, location services must be enabled for streaming outside of Hawai\u2018i, and streams are not available on desktop computers or connected TV devices.<\/p>\n
The game will also be broadcast on The Cowboy Sports Network across 26 stations.<\/p>\n
This will be the 29th meeting between Wyoming and Hawai\u2019i, with Wyoming leading the all-time series 17-11. In Mountain West Conference play, Wyoming also holds a 5-3 advantage. The Cowboys lead the series 9-4 in games played in Laramie.<\/p>\n
The Paniolo Trophy has been part of the rivalry since 1979. The original trophy, a statuette of a Cowboy preparing to toss a lariat, was donated by Hawai\u2019i residents with roots in Wyoming. The trophy was named the Paniolo Trophy, using the Hawaiian word for Cowboy. In 2013, a new trophy, a bronze maquette of Hawaiian native Ikua Purdy roping a bull, was donated by the Paniolo Preservation Society to mark the renewal of the series.<\/p>\n
Wyoming\u2019s defense has been a strong point this season, ranking third in the Mountain West and tenth nationally in passing defense, allowing 165.2 yards per game. They have held opponents under 100 passing yards in back-to-back games. The Pokes also rank second in the Mountain West and fifth in the nation in RedZone Defense, allowing opponents to score only 70 percent of the time.<\/p>\n
Individually, linebacker Evan Eller recorded 10 tackles against Nevada, bringing his career total to 305. He also leads the team with seven tackles for loss this season. Running back Sam Scott rushed for 48 yards against Nevada, surpassing 1,000 career rushing yards. Tight end Evan Svoboda scored his first career touchdown reception against Nevada, and now has scored a touchdown via rush, reception, and pass in his career. Punter Bart Edmiston averaged 55.7 yards per punt against Nevada, with his season average of 46.3 yards per punt ranking third in the MW and 14th nationally. Wide receiver Michael Fitzgerald II had a season-high four catches for 53 yards against Nevada. Defensive end Peter Eyabi recorded and recovered his first career fumble against Nevada.<\/p>\n

Hawai\u2018i is coming off a 38-10 loss to UNLV. Quarterback Micah Alejado leads the Mountain West in passing, averaging 282.6 yards per game with 19 touchdowns. Jackson Harris leads the team with 81.0 receiving yards per game and 11 touchdowns.<\/p>\n
