They don\u2019t get that the audience is women either,” Tierney said regarding the book’s core fanbase. He expressed hope for fan reception, describing the adaptation process as “alchemy.”<\/p>\n
The show’s casting, particularly the chemistry between leads Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, has been highlighted as a key factor in its early buzz. The palpable chemistry evident in the trailer and sneak peeks has resonated with viewers. Despite initial fears of backlash from the book’s fanbase regarding creative decisions, Tierney stated that Williams and Storrie were cast due to their exceptional chemistry during auditions. “This fanbase was so supportive from the beginning. Sex is how you tell the story because their sex changes as they get to know each other, as they get to know themselves,” he explained. “This thing grows and you watch them fall in love. They don\u2019t talk much. They fuck and they text, and that\u2019s kind of what they do, which feels very contemporary and real too.”<\/p>\n
