The Independent’s Chief Football Writer, Miguel Delaney, and The Adam Clery Football Channel, led by Adam Clery, received top awards at the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) Awards 2025 in London.,England stars Declan Rice and Alessia Russo also secured ‘Player of the Year’ awards at the supporter-led ceremony.The Independent’s Chief Football Writer, Miguel Delaney, and The Adam Clery Football Channel have been recognized at the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) Awards 2025. The ceremony, held in central London on Monday evening, saw Delaney awarded Football Writer of the Year.
Adam Clery, who heads up Independent Studio’s The Adam Clery Football Channel, was honored with the Social Media of the Year award.
The FSA Awards attracted over 400,000 votes, establishing it as the largest supporter-led awards event in the country.
Delaney’s 2025 achievements include leading The Independent’s football coverage, notably England’s Women’s Euro 2025 final victory. His book, “States of Play: How Sportswashing Took Over Football,” won the Charles Tyrwhitt Football Book of the Year and was shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award. He also launched his newsletter, “Miguel Delaney: Inside Football.”
The Adam Clery Football Channel (ACFC), led by Clery, has garnered over 182,000 YouTube subscribers for its tactical analyses. Clery also produces “The Adam Clery Football Column” newsletter.
England and Arsenal player Declan Rice received the Men’s Player of the Year award, triumphing over a competitive field including Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo. “It’s a massive privilege to receive the FSA Player of the Year Award, seeing the players I’m up against,” Rice stated. “To be recognised by the supporters, to vote for me to win, it’s really, really special.”
Alessia Russo was named Women’s Player of the Year, surpassing contenders such as Erin Cuthbert and Millie Bright. “Thank you to all the fans that voted, it means a lot,” said Russo. “It was an incredible summer, an incredible few months, winning the Champions League and the Euros.”
