India has become the fourth country to successfully land a spacecraft on the Moon.,Chandrayaan-3’s lander module touched down near the Moon’s unexplored south pole region.India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft has successfully landed on the Moon, marking a historic achievement for the nation and making it the fourth country to accomplish this feat. The lander module, named Vikram, touched down near the lunar south pole region on Wednesday, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The successful landing places India in an elite group of nations – along with the United States, Russia, and China – that have achieved soft landings on the lunar surface. The south pole region is of particular interest to scientists due to the potential presence of water ice in permanently shadowed craters.
Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The mission’s primary objectives include demonstrating safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, showcasing rover mobility on the Moon, and conducting in-situ scientific experiments.
The mission’s success is a significant milestone for ISRO and India’s space program, boosting its aspirations in space exploration.
