This decision comes after a difficult period for the Razorbacks, who have lost nine consecutive games. Green has had two of his worst performances of the season in recent weeks against LSU and Texas, with a combined zero touchdowns, three interceptions, and just 283 passing yards in those games. Over his last five games, Green has thrown only one touchdown and six interceptions.
Green left last week’s game against Texas with a hamstring injury, though he was not on the SEC injury report for Saturday’s game. Jackson played in the game against Texas and performed reasonably well in his fourth appearance for the Razorbacks against a top 20 opponent. He completed 16 passes for 206 yards and one touchdown, and also added 17 rushing yards and a touchdown.
With these factors in mind, Jackson was given the starting role against Mizzou. Early in the game, Mizzou held a 7-0 lead within the first five minutes.
